X3 Knowledge of micro/molecular principles.

I remember doing a little bit of study on metal fatigue, crack propagation, work hardening and annealing on a molecular level as an apprentice engineer. An area of the topic I really enjoyed studying and may pick this as one of my areas to develop to a higher level.
Firstly I must refresh my memory on the study I did many years ago.
Sadly I parted with my books, which now means I will have to look for an alternative source of material. Never mind, it is out there.

Having researched plastics for a presentation I now understand the difference in molecular structure of thermo plastics and thermosetting plastics. I have developed a clear understanding of what occurs to the molecules when solvent adhesives are used.
I have started dipping into Engineering Metallurgy by R.A Higgins and researching the effects of work hardening and annealing on the molecular structure. I need to do a lot more reading now to broaden my knowledge.

I never did find the time to refresh my memory about the molecular structure during metal fatigue and crack propagation. I do have a reasonable memory about it though. I have much more confidence about my own knowledge then I had at the beginning of the academic year. Right now I would share what I remember whereas at the beginning of the academic year I would have said nothing if I was not a hundred percent sure about the facts.I know it would not take much to refresh my memory and I have been lent a lot of engineering text books too.
